To expand its product distribution to the international market, Kimia Farma is intending to acquire shares in a pharmaceutical company in Saudi Arabia, Dawaa Ltd. Co. As quoted from the Kimia Farma official page, the two companies recently signed an MOU as commencement of the corporate action.

As a member of a consortium led by PT Bahana Securities, Dentons HPRP was appointed to provide legal assistance in the transaction. Partner Giovanni Mofsol Muhammad assisted by associate lawyers Mika Isaac Kriyasa, Citra Ayu Kusumawardhani and Peter Christopher, were involved in designing the most beneficial structure for the transaction, developing agreements, and supporting the client in preparing the legal documents required such as corporate approvals.

Based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Dawaa Ltd. Co. has a network of 30 pharmacies throughout Saudi Arabia. In addition to the expansion of distribution, the acquisition is also intended to provide better services for Indonesian Hajj and Umraa pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. In the future, Kimia Farma and Dawaa Ltd. Co. will build a network of clinics and hospitals in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to facilitate the Hajj and Umraa pilgrims in obtaining health services.
