Dentons HPRP partner and head of Financial Services practice group Erwin Kurnia Winenda was quoted in a Nikkei Asian Review article titled “Indonesian P2P industry seeks regulatory clarity”.
According to the article, P2P lending is surging in Indonesia, prompting regulators to prioritize the establishment of a legal framework to protect the industry. Related to this, Erwin shared his view in this article that while an in-depth study of the P2P business was required, the risk of leaving the industry unregulated was too big. He said that while waiting for the P2P regulation to come out, it was advisable for the regulator to issue some kind of basic guidelines for fintech and P2P players.
