Dentons HPRP Partner and head of the Financial Services practice group Erwin Kurnia Winenda shared his views in an opinion column titled “Regulasi Khusus Peer-to-Peer Lending” (Specific Regulation for Peer to Peer Lending) in Kontan, a leading financial daily in Indonesia.

In the article, Erwin wrote about the need to have a specific regulation on P2P lending to support the rapid growth of the industry. According to him, currently the P2P lending companies are running their business under the civil law, while the business is growing rapidly. However, the risk of leaving the industry with no specific regulation was too great. Therefore, he advises regulators to issue some kind of basic guidelines for fintech and P2P players while waiting for formal regulations.
