Dentons HPRP partner Hendra Ong was appointed by the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs to join the Power Generation Working Group as part of the implementation of the Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR) program in Indonesia.
As the organizer and coordinator, the Directorate General of Electricity in the Ministry of Energy and Resources (DGESDM) invited Hendra and other members of the power generation working group to attend a technical workshop on Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emission profile development, and emission monitoring, reporting and verification systems (MRV) in the power generation sector. Hendra attended the series of workshops with Joshua Satyagraha (senior associate), also from Dentons HPRP. The first one was held in Bogor on 17-18 July 2017, continued by a meeting in Batam on 3-5 August 2017 in which the attendees had the opportunity to visit Tanjung Kasam coal-fired power plant. Further to these, meetings were continued by the third meeting in Bogor on 10-11 August 2017. The PMR is planning to hold another meeting by the end of August.
The PMR is a program developed by several developed countries with the World Bank to support developing countries in preparing market-based assessment options and their future implementation, focusing on technical and institutional readiness improvement. As its implementation, the working groups formed by the Directorate General of Electricity is conducting emission reduction trials in the power and energy-based industrial sectors and market-based instruments in Indonesia.
