The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ESDM”) recently issued Regulation of the Minister of ESDM No. 42 of 2017 concerning the Supervision of Exploitation in Business Activities in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector (“Permen 42/2017”). Applicable to oil and natural gas, electrical power, minerals and coal, and geothermal energy businesses, this regulation requires an approval from the Minister in connection with some agenda items.
