Dentons HPRP partner Giovanni Mofsol Muhammad was quoted in The Jakarta Post on Saudi Arabia’s planned investment in Indonesia.
During the visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia, the Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) met the Council for Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry to form an Indonesia-Saudi business council in order to increase deals between the two countries. Giovanni was asked to share his view on this, and he said that in general Saudi investors might not be very familiar with outbound real sector investment and specifically developments in the Indonesian real sector. He added a suggestion that the Indonesian government might need to arrange for state owned securities firms to approach Saudi investors to interest them in investing in Indonesian infrastructure projects through securities firms as their investment managers (a concept which the Saudi investors might be more familiar with), while educating Saudi investors about the real sector developments in Indonesia.
