One of Dentons HPRP’s Partners, Fabian Pascoal, authored an opinion piece titled: "BUMN di Jalur Sutra" (State-Owned Enterprises on the Silk Road) exclusively for Investor Daily, a national leading publication. In the article he discusses the involvement of Indonesia’s state-owned companies in the China Belt and Road initiative (BRI). 

The article highlights that the Indonesian government’s effort to accelerate national development requires massive funding and China’s BRI initiative is a large potential source to fund national development. However, it's not without its dangers, especially with China’s penchant to trap participating countries with debt. Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises will be involved in BRI projects, but these enterprises must continue to improve their efficiency, capabilities, and partnership with municipality-owned enterprises in order to fully take advantage of the opportunities inherent in BRI. State-owned enterprises must ensure that Indonesia’s participation in BRI benefits us as much as China.
