The list was issued by a leading legal publication, Asia Business Law Journal (ABLJ). Al Hakim Hanafiah and Giovanni Mofsol Muhammad are included in the list for the 5th consecutive year, while it is the 2nd year for Erwin Kurnia Winenda.

The A-List is based on extensive research conducted by ABLJ. To identify the top 100 lawyers in Indonesia, ABLJ turned to thousands of in-house counsel in Indonesia and around the world, as well as partners at international law firms. Nominations were made by professionals in a wide range of Indonesian and global companies, financial institutions and law firms.
