On the same day that Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, was reported as the city with the worst air pollution in the world, President Jokowi promulgated for the first time a Presidential Regulation concerning the Acceleration of Battery Electric Vehicle Programs for Road Transportation. As if in response to the report, the new regulation aims to realize clean energy, clean air quality, and environmental friendliness, besides increasing energy efficiency, energy security and energy conservation.

Dentons HPRP’s lawyers, Hendra Ong (Partner) and Timothy Chow (Associate) have taken a look at the new regulation and written a note on how the BEV Programs will be implemented and possible restrictions that may be put into place.
