Recently, the Indonesian Minister of Transportation issued Decrees KM 31/2024 and KM 33/2024, aimed at restructuring the national aviation industry and optimizing airport usage across the country. These decrees significantly reduce the number of international airports from 34 to 17, marking a major shift in Indonesia's airport management strategy. This significant change has led to widespread discussion particularly regarding its impact on the tourism industry in regions that have lost their international airport status and the perceived "degradation" of airports that no longer hold international status.
